Some eleven months ago, the Department of
Religious Studies of Bethlehem University, under the leadership of
Father Jamal Khader, Dean of Religious Studies, held its
third international conference on Christian-Muslim Relations with the
theme “Violence, Non-violence and Religion,” from 9th-11th February
2011. The conference drew an international pool of scholars,
theologians, professors, practitioners, men and women of different
creeds to a common interest which spawned a myriad of thought-provoking
questions.
The conference proceedings carry a rich
source of intellectual inputs and interesting materials on the subject
expounded by the conference speakers. Thanks to the support of The
Pontifical Mission for Palestine, The International Federation of
Catholic Universities, The Friends of Bethlehem University in England
and Wales and the Living Stones of the Holy Land Trust, this three-day
event has continued to be a fertile ground for dialogue and intellectual
conversations.
We thank Father Jamal Khader for this copy of the conference
proceedings as we say “mabrouk!” to him and the organizing committee
members.
